On Saturdays from September through to April, GFS yachts race every week. Some races stay west of the Harbour Bridge, and others go 'down harbour'.
In addition, Sunday racing is available for most of the year, on a fortnightly basis. GFS boats can enter the West Harbour yacht series, completing with boats from 3 other clubs.
SATURDAY RACING
From September to April, GFS Yachts sail every week on Saturdays. There are two series, each of which need to be entered separately:
REGULAR SATURDAY SERIES. For the 2026-7 Season, this series will be 22 races. Races are held each week except for the weeks where we hold a Joe Walsh Down Harbour Series race (see below). There are prizes for Spring, Summer and Autumn sub-series, and also prizes for the combined Spring and Autumn Series. Incorporated into this series is an additional sub-series - the Mick York Trophy. 8 selected races from the Saturday race series are nominated for this trophy.
JOE WALSH DOWN HARBOUR SERIES This is a series of 8 races - one each month, where yachts sail into the main harbour.
SUNDAY RACING
If Saturday is not enough for you, then join the West Harbour Combined Club Racing for Sunday races. This is a combined club series that includes Drummoyne SC, Parramatta SC, Balmain SC and Greenwich Flying Squadron. Racing is fortnightly, including a Winter Series. Balmain is the Organising Club, and GFS boats can join without paying additional race fees.
FOR THE 2026-2027 RACE SEASON, ENTRY WILL OPEN FROM MID AUGUST, 2026. RACE DOCUMENTATION FOR THE SEASON WILL BE AVAILABLE BY THE TIME ENTRIES OPEN
