The aim of GFS Women is to support women’s participation in all aspects of the Club – as sailors, boat owners and volunteers. Women looking for crew spots are invited to contact Chris Gaskell, Membership Secretary, or Leigh McLaughlin Vice Commodore for information and assistance.
Each year, the Club runs the Women’s Helm Development Program as part of the Twilight Season. This consists of five races where women take the helm under the mentorship of the Skipper with the support of the crew. These races are held on the last Wednesday of the month (except December) throughout the Twilight Season.
The aim is to create a supportive learning environment and a positive experience for all involved. Women and Mentors are encouraged to make a match ahead of the season. More details available soon.
Club members are strong supporters of this event which is part of the Club’s mission to be one of the best places on the Harbour for women’s participation in sailing.
