Welcome to Greenwich Flying Squadron
Located at the historic Bay Street Wharf, GFS is a vibrant sailing community catering to everything from yachts up to 40 feet to our dinghy fleets, including Sabots, Optis, and Lasers.
We love sailing - fun, safe and accessible - for everyone. We value community above all else, and aspire to be a club that is welcoming and friendly and which becomes more than just a place to sail. We are entirely volunteer based, our club thrives through the energy and goodwill of our members.
Our Sailing Program
Experience the buzz of the harbour during Daylight Saving. Our Wednesday Twilight series is one of the largest on Sydney Harbour, featuring seven divisions navigating the scenic waters of the Lane Cove River and the Western Harbour islands—including Cockatoo, Goat, Spectacle, and Snapper.
Saturdays at GFS are all about the Keelboats. In addition to our regular schedule, we host a monthly "Down Harbour" race that takes the fleet under the Bridge for a true harbour challenge.
Our Junior Program is the heartbeat of our weekend community. We take young sailors from their first time on the water all the way to competing in State and National Championships.
Twilight BBQs
Each week during daylight savings the club hosts a BBQ and prize giving on the deck following Wednesday night racing. The tables cover the club deck and lively conversations echo across the water.
