CREWING AT GFS
Whether you’re an experienced crew member or new to sailing, you’re welcome at GFS. Information about the club and club events are updated regularly on the GFS website.
Weekend races are held throughout the year, and Twilight Races are held on Wednesdays during daylight saving, followed by a BBQ on the deck. The Saturday fleet is small and provides a good introduction to racing and GFS. Older style boats which were previously raced will fit in well with the Saturday fleet and spinnakers can be used but are not compulsory. The twilight fleet is larger and races in seven divisions. All boats that race at GFS have an upper limit of 40 feet.
Skippers are often looking for crew and will help you ‘learn the ropes’. It helps if you already have some experience but people new to sailing are also welcome. We will try to organise an opportunity for you to go out for a sail and, in time, you may find a regular spot on a crew.
GFS is committed to increasing women’s participation in sailing. We have a supportive environment for women and we welcome inquiries. Learn more about Women Sailing at GFS here.
If you are interested in sailing as a crew member, or would like to race your own boat, please contact the club Membership Secretary.
